In Part I of the article Knowing Your Worth, I explained that knowing your value and worth is defined and measured by God. If you are a born-again believer, you obviously identify as a child of God. John 1:12-13 says, "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God".
Because you are a child of God, it's important to start living like you know your God-given worth.
Remember to always go to the Word of God to know what God says about you. Often, we allow our circumstances, the opinions of others, our failures, and even our successes to define our worth and value. We already established in Part I that we are Chosen, a Masterpiece, and an Overcomer. But there is SO much more that God says about you in His Word. One of the best ways to begin to act like someone valued by God is by agreeing with God about what He says about you.
What does it mean to agree with God, and how do you do it? According to the Strongs Concordance (#4856), 'agree' means to call out with, to be in harmony, and generally to agree – properly voicing the same opinion to become like-minded. Wow! So, according to this definition, we agree with what God says about us by voicing the same opinion. To voice the same opinion as God, we must get our thinking in line with His opinion of us. Remember, God's opinion of you is found in His Word.
It's time to fight the good fight of faith regarding your worth and value. Below are some steps you can take to get you started on the road to living like you know your God-given worth and value.
1) Change the way you think by transforming your mind.
If you want to begin to voice the same opinion about yourself as God about your worth, you must first fill up on God's Word. Luke 6:45 says that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then, you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2
2) Be intentional about casting negative thoughts about yourself down quickly
We often meditate on negative thoughts and mull them over in our minds. We must learn to recognize and cast those thoughts down immediately and not let them get a stronghold in our minds. Remember, we are training ourselves to think and say what God says about our worth and value.
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
3) Speak the Word out Loud
Keeping quiet is not an option when you decide to agree with God. Part of the definition of agreeing is to "voice the same opinion." That means it is time for us to open our mouths and speak out loud about what God says about our worth and value. There are several ways you can speak the Word of God out loud. You can pray the Word, speak the Word as affirmations, decree and declare the Word, or even prophesy the Word. Just say the Word out loud. However, you are led to do it!
Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We too believe, and therefore we speak, II Corinthians 4:13
Let’s practice! Speak the following affirmations out loud.
I am Chosen (I Peter 2:9)
I am God’s masterpiece anointed to do great things (Ephesians 2:10)
I am Loved by God (Isaiah 54:10)
I am stunningly and brilliantly made by God (Psalm 139:13-14)
Christ in me is more Powerful than anything of this world! (I John 4:4)
My past does not determine my future (II Corinthians 5:17)
I am worth more than rubies (Proverbs 31:10)
I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:31)
I am Strong and courageous (Deuteronomy 31:16)
I am crowned with glory and honor (Psalms 8:5)
I am created in the image of God, the image of perfection (Genesis 1:27)
