Did you know that the word 'worth' means the value of something measured by its qualities or by the esteem in which it is held? Jesus gave his life for you, which means that your value is defined and measured by him. He held you in such high esteem that he died so that you could live. The Bible contains many verses about our worth and value in Christ Jesus. The next time you start feeling like you have no value or worth, I want you to remember these three things:
You are Chosen
You are a Masterpiece
You are an Overcomer
You are Chosen
9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,[a] a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 10 “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy (I Peter 2:9-10 NLT).
It is important to know that God has chosen you. And guess what? He knew exactly what he was getting when he chose you. The world's standard says that you have to have it all together and do everything right to be chosen, but not with God! God stepped right into that dark place, got you, and brought you into his marvelous light. You were not rejected, but instead, you were chosen on purpose for a purpose. So, the next time you feel rejected by people, remember that you were chosen and selected by God, and let your confidence be in that.
You are a Masterpiece
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
(Ephesians 2:10 NLT)
Did you know that when Picasso painted the "Mona Lisa", people praised his workmanship as a masterpiece? But did you also know that you are God's workmanship? When others look at you, they should see a masterpiece created by the hand of God. In the first chapter of Genesis, we see that every time God created something, He called it good. Therefore, you are also a masterpiece that is good! It's crucial to remember that God created you not based on your works or goodness. It had nothing to do with your failures or successes. The value and worth of what was created are only as valuable as the artist who created it. So, you must be of great value and worth to be created by the maker of heaven and earth.
You are an Overcomer
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (I John 4:4, KJV)
I really like this scripture because it speaks in past tense and says "you have overcome" instead of saying that we will overcome. The next time you face a crisis, have faith and remember that you are not waiting to overcome, but you can face your battle knowing that because Jesus is in you, you have already overcome! This is so encouraging to know that no matter what we face, we go in as an overcomer and come out as an overcomer.
I want to encourage you to write these scriptures down and meditate on them. When the enemy tries to bombard your mind with thoughts that say you are not valued or you are unworthy, remind him that according to the Word of God, you have been chosen by God, made a masterpiece, and are an overcomer.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am a masterpiece!
I absolutely needed this!
Powerful.and.Amen!
